Go to any major comic book merchant’s website, run a search on “Deadpool” and you will learn just how popular Deadpool team-ups are. There have been Deadpool team-up or versus books (which usually become team-ups) with Deadpool and Black Panther, Spider-Man, Wolverine, X-Force, the Punisher, Carnage, Thanos, Cable, Old Man Logan, Gambit, Captain America, Hawkeye, and more.
In fact, there have been three volumes of Deadpool Team-Up, the most recent of which is coming out as we speak.
Why are Deadpool team-ups so popular and what does it have to do with sequels?
The answer should be clear as soon as you watch the very first Deadpool movie—because Wade Wilson is never as funny and engaging as he is when he has other superheroes to bounce off of.
That’s why the original film and all the Deadpool sequels that followed have really been team-up films. The only difference is that they called the 2018 sequel Deadpool 2 rather than Deadpool & X-Force.
